Hill, Malik face off
in vote for PNG president
John Hill and Jordan Malik have accepted nominations for president of the Providence Newspaper Guild. Guild members will vote by mail in an election to be held in May. Hill, a state staff bureau manager in the Providence Journal news department's Lincoln office has lead the local since winning a special election last year, following the death of Bob Jagolinzer. Hill had previously served six years as Guild secretary. Malik, a publications clerk in the Journal advertising department's travel and entertainment segment, has served on the local executive committee since June 2002. During the past year Malik also served as coordinator of the local's action committee. All other Executive Committee positions were unopposed: Jeff Andrade -- vice president, Thom Cahir - Secretary, Greg Smith - Treasurer, At-large - Geraldine Corrigan, Paul Davis, Felice Freyer, Kerry Kohring, Del St. Jean, and Karen Ziner. (One vacant position will have to be filled in a special election.)
Ballots will be mailed to all eligible Guild members on May 7th. To be eligible to vote all back dues balances must be paid time ballots are mailed.
