You Matter!

The law gives all of us certain rights in the workplace, and those rights are dramatically expanded with contracts negotiated through the Providence Newspaper Guild, or any union contract.

• Labor laws give you the right to obtain and enforce these expanded rights a contract provides through a grievance procedure.
• Health and safety laws give you rights to a safe workplace and protection for reporting violations.
• Federal law gives you the right to form a union in the first place, free from intimidation, and to maintain your union once it’s established in your place of employment.

Your legal and contractual rights alone are not a complete shield. Asserting them in a constructive manner, however, gets you to the remedies you deserve. This also sets a tone to prevent future upsets that may affect yourself or those around you.
